The film opens in Scotland in 1970 as Nicholas Garrigan (James McAvoy) graduates from medical school. Faced with the dull prospect of joining his bourgeois father in the family’s village practice, he decides instead to seek adventure abroad by taking up a position in a Ugandan missionary clinic run by Dr. David Merrit (Adam Kotz) and his wife Sarah (Gillian Anderson). Garrigan quickly becomes attracted to Sarah; she enjoys his attentions, but refuses to engage in an extramarital affair with him. This reveals that one of Garrigan’s character flaws is his attraction to married women; this will become significant later in the film.

Coinciding with Garrigan’s arrival in Uganda, General Idi Amin (Forest Whitaker) is concluding a successful coup d’état to overthrow incumbent president Milton Obote. The two men meet at the scene of a minor car accident, where Garrigan treats Amin’s injured hand. Amin who admires Scotland for its long resilience under English rule, is delighted to discover the doctor’s nationality. Garrigan is impressed by Amin’s charisma, affability, and by his vision of an egalitarian golden age for Uganda. Their friendship is cemented when Amin exchanges his military shirt for Garrigan’s “Scotland” T-shirt. Some days later, Amin invites Garrigan to become his personal physician and to take charge of modernising the country’s health care system. Garrigan accepts, leaves the clinic, and moves to Kampala.

Forty-eight hours later, Israeli forces stormed Entebbe and liberated all but one of the hostages. International public opinion turned against Amin for good. When he was finally overthrown in 1979, jubilant crowds poured onto the streets. His regime had killed more than 300,000 Ugandans and expelled tens of thousands of Asians who had made Uganda their home for years. Amin died in exile in Saudi Arabia on 16 August 2003. Nobody knows if that was the date he dreamed about.

Erik Ponti is a sixteen-year-old boy who faces a lot of violence in his life. At school, he and his gang lend money to other students at high interest, resulting in a beating if they don’t pay the money back in time; several teachers maltreat students that don’t behave (in the book; in the movie it is not explained so widely). At home he lives with his sadistic stepfather and his mother.

When Erik and his gang are caught stealing records from stores, Erik gets the entire blame because of the loose kind of loyalty in the gang, resulting in his expulsion from school (again, in the book; in the movie he’s just shown fighting with other students). But circumstances allow him to matriculate into a private boarding school, Stjärnsberg, where he gets a new chance to continue his studies. Erik decides to try and break away from his earlier violent lifestyle.

But Stjärnsberg isn’t as nice and friendly as it seems initially. Erik has to face new kinds of violence in this school; from upperclassmen and members of the school council instead of teachers. At the school, a system called “kamratuppfostran” (”schoolmate upbringing”) is in place; a codename for a violent kind of bullying directed especially at nonconforming students, ostensibly to keep discipline and order in school. Erik, being the kind of person who won’t accept injustices, quickly becomes the main target.

Ambitious politician Walter Chalmers (Robert Vaughn), is holding a Senate subcommittee hearing in San Francisco on Organized Crime in America. Hoping that by bringing down mobster Pete Ross (Vic Tayback) with the aid of key witness Johnny Ross, Pete’s brother, Chalmers’ political standing might improve. The story takes place the weekend before the hearing, from Friday night (during the opening credits) to Sunday night.

Following the theft of $2,000,000, and his escape to San Francisco, Johnny (actually Albert Renick) (played by Felice Orlandi) is placed in the San Francisco Police Department’s protective custody for the weekend. Chalmers requests Lieutenant Frank Bullitt’s (Steve McQueen) unit to guard him.

Bullitt, Sergeant Delgetti (Don Gordon) and Detective Carl Stanton (Justin Tarr), give Ross around-the-clock protection at the Hotel Daniels, a cheap flophouse near the Embarcadero Freeway. Before Ross enters the hotel, he makes several phone calls. Late Saturday night, while Stanton is guarding him, the desk clerk calls and says Chalmers and a friend are seeking Ross. Stanton calls Bullitt, who tells him not to let them in, as Chalmers would not show up at 1:00 in the morning. Meanwhile, Ross takes the security chain off the door. Suddenly, a pair of hitmen, Mike (Paul Genge) and Phil (played by stunt driver Bill Hickman), burst into the room and shoot both Inspector Stanton and Ross, seriously wounding them both.

Bullitt returns home to find Cathy asleep. He enters the bathroom to wash his hands and looks into the mirror, quietly contemplating his future. The final shot lingers on Bullitt’s gun and bullets.

The film is set 23 years after the first film, in June 2008,[14] and Gordon Gekko has just been released from prison. Despite his initial attempts to warn Wall Street of the forthcoming economic downturn and stock market crash, no one believes him due to his reduced standing in the financial world. Gekko decides to re-focus his attention on rebuilding his relationship with his estranged daughter, Winnie. Due to their time apart, and the fact that Winnie blames Gekko for her brother Rudy’s suicide,[19] she avoids any contact with him. At the same time, the mentor of young Wall Street trader Jacob unexpectedly dies, and Jacob suspects his hedge fund manager of being involved in the death. Jacob, who is Winnie’s fiance, seeks revenge and agrees to Gekko’s offer of help, in return for which Jacob agrees to help Gekko with Winnie.[17]

Kyle Kingson (Alex Pettyfer) has it all – looks, intelligence, wealth and opportunity – and a wicked cruel streak. Seizing the opportunity, Kyle promises the addict freedom and safety for his daughter, Linda Taylor (Vanessa Hudgens) if she will consent to live in Kyle’s Brooklyn home. Thus begins Kyle’s journey to discover true love in this hyper-modern retelling of the classic “Beauty and the Beast” story.[5]

The film opens in New York City, 1933, at the height of the Great Depression. Having lost her job as a vaudeville actress, Ann Darrow is hired by troubled filmmaker Carl Denham to be an actress in his new motion picture against the famous and popular actor Bruce Baxter. With time running out, Ann signs on when she learns her favorite playwright Jack Driscoll is the screenwriter. As the SS Venture sails across the ocean, they slowly fall in love. As for Carl, a warrant is out for his arrest and Captain Englehorn begins to have second thoughts, following the fears of his crew over the legend of Skull Island. Despite his attempt to turn around, the ship is sucked up into fog and crashes into one of the encircling rocks.

Carl and his crew explore a seemingly deserted village against a wall. As they explore, Carl spots a native girl and offers her chocolate but she attacks, and Carl and the crew realize the village isn’t deserted. Then, a member of Carl’s film crew gets impaled by a spear, Ann notices and screams, a roar beyond the wall responds and the crew are attacked by the natives. The matriarch vows to sacrifice Ann to “Kong”. Just as Carl is about to be killed, Englehorn and the sailors break up the attack and return to the damaged ship. They finally lighten the load on the ship to sail away, until Jack discovers Ann has been kidnapped. On the island in a sacrificing ceremony, Ann is tied to a wooden drawbridge by the natives and lowered to the other side of the wall across a moat-like ditch in the ground. The crew arrived armed, and started killing all the natives. But are too late as Kong appears to claim Ann, and glares back at Carl, and then disappears with Ann into the jungle as Carl watches from the opposite side of the wall. A rescue party is organized, and Captain Englehorn gives them 24 hours to find her. In the meantime as Kong holding Ann moves quickly through the jungle and shakes her around, Ann discovers the remains of the previous sacrifices, and stabs Kong’s hand with her ceremonial necklace, much to Kong’s surprise. Hearing the rescue party approaching, Kong grabs Ann as she tries to run from him and takes her deeper into the jungle.

Kong eventually stops Jack’s taxi, knocking Jack unconscious, he then sees Ann down the street, which calms him down before he can kill Jack. They share a quiet moment on a frozen lake in Central Park then are interrupted by the military. Kong heads to the Empire State Building and climbs to the top. While observing the dawning day, Kong repeats the sign for “beautiful” Ann had used in his lair, causing a shocked Ann to realize his intelligence. Before Ann is able to attempt further communication, they are again attacked by the military. Kong makes his last stand against the Curtiss Helldivers,[3] on the summit of the observation spire, downing three of them. Ultimately, Kong is hit by several bursts of gunfire from the surviving planes, and gazes at a distraught Ann for the last time before falling off the building to his death. Jack finally reaches Ann and comforts her. In the aftermath, hundreds of people and reporters run to Kong’s lifeless body and look in amazement. A man tells Carl that the airplanes got him. But Carl says, “It wasn’t the airplanes. It was Beauty killed the Beast.”
