The film opens in the Forbidden City in 1887, where Chon Lin (Fann Wong) is drinking tea with her father, the Keeper of the Imperial Seal of China. She tells him her brother, Chon Wang (Jackie Chan), is doing well as a sheriff in Carson City, Nevada, United States, but her father replies that her brother is dead to him. At that moment, Lord Nelson Rathbone (Aidan Gillen), leads a band of Boxers into the city, who attack the Keeper. Rathbone stabs him and leaves with the seal. As he lies dying, he gives Lin a puzzle box and a letter to Chon Wang.

Back in the Wild West, Chon Wang is doing well as sheriff, having captured an impressive array of fugitives. His deputy is relaxing with a book called “Roy O’Bannon Vs. The Mummy”, a highly fictionalized account of the events of the first film that now portrays Wang’s “Shanghai Kid” as a cowardly sidekick.

Wang receives a parcel, which contains the puzzle box and Lin’s letter, telling him his father is dead and that she has tracked the murderer to London.

Chon Wang travels to New York City to find his old partner Roy O’Bannon (Owen Wilson), needing his share of the gold left over from the first film to buy his ticket. Roy has left his brief stint in law enforcement, broken off his romance with Falling Leaves, spent most of the gold investing in the Zeppelin, and is now a hotel waiter and part-time gigolo. After they attempt prostitution to pay for a trip to England, the Mayor of New York arrives in search of his daughters, Roy’s latest clients. Chon Wang fights off a number of New York police officers, and he and Roy ship themselves to London in a crate. On the way, Wang tells Roy about his father, and Roy swears an oath to help reclaim the seal.

Roy and Wang are knighted, as is Artie, whose full name is now Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Artie decides to become a writer, his stories revolving around his deductive reasoning technique, and asks Roy if he can use the “Sherlock Holmes” name. Roy and Lin kiss, and Roy proposes that he and Wang go to Hollywood to get in on the ground floor with motion pictures. They roll off in a buggy, with Charlie stowed away. Wang also manages to open the box his father sent him, finding a message inside reminding him of the importance of family.

Marmaduke is a two-hundred pound two year old dog living in Urban Kansas with a Balinese cat named Carlos. His owner Phil (Lee Pace) works for Bark Organic dog food, and is very strict (in Marmaduke’s eyes). One day Carlos tells him that he overheard Phil, and that they have been transfered to Orange County. They move into their new house where they meet Phil’s boss, Don Twombly. Don’s goal is to get Bark Organic in every Petco in the country. They meet at the dog park where Marmaduke meets a beautiful dog name Jezebel (Fergie), whose boyfriend is Bosco, a controlling and violent dog with his two minions Thunder and Lighting. Bosco intimidates Marmaduke, who does not want to fight. He then meets Mazie (Emma Stone) who develops a crush on Marmaduke. He also meets Guiseppe, a Chinese Crested dog who is afraid of everything, and Raison. They get together at night and crash a party for pedigrees only, and are scared away by Bosco. Marmaduke then asks Mazie to help him get a girl, whom she presumes is herself, but is actually Jezebel. Marmaduke then has Carlos pretend to be lost in the dog park, and “fights” him. He then enters a surfing contest Phil put together for dogs, and beats Bosco, who is the surfing champion. They get in a dog fight, which appalls the Petco executives. He then takes Jezebel on Mazie’s dream date, which the latter watches from afar. While the family is on Don’s boat, Marmaduke throws a party, with most residents of the dog park coming, save Mazie, Guisseppe, and Raisin. Bosco crashes the party and discovers it was Carlos at the dog park. He then exposes Marmaduke, who loses his pedigree friends. He is left with no friends and a destroyed house. When Phil discovers the house in a wreck, he locks Marmaduke outside for the night. Marmaduke runs away, and leaves Mazie a toy that she gave him earlier in the movie. Mazie goes to Marmaduke’s house, and Carlos tells her Marmaduke never returned. She then goes looking for him. In the morning the family discover him missing, and search for him too. Marmaduke in the meantime has met Chupadogra, a Mastiff who is feared throughout Orange County for presumably killing his owner. In reality, he ran away to lead the pack but they abandoned him. He has spent the time alone in the woods with nothing but a blanket and his old water bowl, which reads “Buster”.Buster/Chupadogra tells Marmaduke to return to his family, and then distracts a dog catcher. Marmaduke leaves, but gets lost. Mazie and the family find him at the same time, but Mazie falls into the sewers after the street below her collapses. Marmaduke jumps in after her and Phil tries to retrieve him, but the fire department tries instead. The fireman saves Mazie, but loses Marmaduke in the raging water. By this time Phil has been fired for missing the meeting for the last chance with Petco. Phil then goes to the dam that the sewers lead to, and finds Marmaduke in the raging waters. He jumps in after him, and begs Marmaduke to let go of the stick he’s holding onto, and let the waters carry him to Phil. He reluctantly does, and is saved. Several kids got that on video, and put it on Youtube. Since it had almost seven-hundred thousand hits,he is re-hired. Phil then thinks about moving back to Kansas, but the entire family disagrees. He and Don are thinking of ideas for commercials, having gotten Petco. They ask each other about if the dogs could talk to each other, and even dance. It shows Marmaduke, Jezebel, Mazie, Guisseppe, Raisin, and Buster, among others, dancing and singing What I Like About You, which turns out to be the commercial. In the end, Marmaduke and Mazie are dating, Marmaduke and Jezebel are friends, Buster has presumably gotten a family, and all is well.

The film centers on a group of aimless young men from a wealthy Texas community. As the movie opens, Dignan (Owen Wilson) “rescues” Anthony (Luke Wilson) from a voluntary mental hospital where he has been staying for self-described exhaustion. Dignan has an elaborate escape planned and has developed a 75-year plan, which he shows to Anthony on the escape bus. The plan is to pull off several heists and then meet Mr. Henry, a landscapist and part-time criminal known to Dignan.

The two friends waste no time in breaking into and robbing a house as a practice run, taking small, specific items from a list. During Dignan’s critique of the robbery, he mentions that he took diamond earrings, which were not on the list. Anthony becomes angered because the house was his family’s and he admonishes Dignan for stealing his mother’s earrings without permission.

Anthony visits his little sister at her school so she can return the earrings. Dignan recruits Bob Mapplethorpe as a getaway driver because he is the only person they know with his own car. The three make a road trip to buy guns and return to Bob’s house to plan their next heist, a local bookstore. The group bickers as Dignan struggles to describe his intricate plan to the others.

Anthony and Bob visit Dignan in prison. They catch up and tell him how Mr. Henry robbed Bob’s house. Dignan begins rattling off an escape plan and instructs his friends to get into position for a get-away. After a tense moment, the two realize that Dignan is joking. Before leaving, Dignan says to Anthony, “Isn’t it funny that you used to be in the nuthouse and now I’m in jail?” as he walks back into the prison. As in most Wes Anderson movies the ending is in slow motion.

The last race of the Piston Cup stock car racing season ends in a three-way dead heat between retiring veteran Strip “The King” Weathers, perennial runner-up and dirty fighter Chick Hicks, and the self-centered rookie Lightning McQueen. A tiebreaker race is scheduled for one week later at the Los Angeles International Speedway. McQueen, eager to start practice in California as soon as possible in order to become Piston Cup champion and take The King’s place as the sponsored car of the lucrative Dinoco team, pushes his driver Mack to travel all night long. Mack tries to avoid falling asleep, but becomes a victim of a gang of reckless street racers, subsequently causing the sleeping McQueen to roll out of the back of the truck unnoticed. Waking up in traffic, McQueen speeds off to find Mack, but becomes lost and ends up in the run-down town of Radiator Springs. A mishap with the local sheriff causes McQueen to inadvertently tear up the town’s main road. McQueen is arrested then tried the next day by the town’s judge and doctor, Doc Hudson, who at first wants him to leave immediately; at the insistence of local lawyer Sally Carrera, Doc instead sentences him to repave the road as community service.

As the race begins, McQueen’s thoughts keep drifting back to Radiator Springs and he is distracted from performing well. However, he is surprised to discover that his new friends have come to serve as his pit crew, with Doc — once again outfitted in his old racing colors — as chief. Cheered by their presence and their incredible pit stop speed, and using tricks he learned during his time among them, McQueen is able to counter Hicks’ dirty driving tactics and take the lead. On the final lap, Hicks purposely rams The King aside, causing him to veer off the track and end up in a terrible wreck. Just short of the finish line, McQueen stops, letting Hicks win the race, and backs up to push The King the rest of the way across the finish line, helping him to complete his final race. Hicks is shunned and booed off the awards ceremony stage despite his Cup victory, while McQueen is praised by The King and his wife, Dinoco, and the press and crowd for his sportsmanship. He is offered the Dinoco sponsorship but turns it down, saying that he would rather stay with the team that brought him this far. McQueen returns to Radiator Springs and decides to move his team’s headquarters there, helping to revitalize the town and its businesses, much to the pleasure of his new friends.

After several meteoroids destroy the Space Shuttle Atlantis and bombard New York City, NASA discovers that an asteroid the size of Texas is on a direct collision course with Earth and will likely wipe out all life on the Earth and destroy it. It is not publicly revealed that it will hit the Earth within 18 days. The scientists at NASA devise a plan to activate a nuclear bomb at a precise point under the asteroid’s surface which will split it in two and cause it to miss the Earth. NASA locates the best oil driller on the planet, Harry Stamper, to get advice. Harry and Grace, his daughter, are taken to NASA and Dan Truman, the head of NASA, informs him of the situation. Harry immediately recognizes that he and his crew must accompany the astronauts on the mission to ensure the job is done properly. After Harry’s crew is collected from across the country and NASA acquiesces to their demands, they are put through a training program and outfit a drilling rig with the proper equipment for the job.

When a meteorite strikes Shanghai, China, destroying the city and causing a tsunami, around 50,000 people die. At this point, the pending mission is revealed to the world. Two specially designed military shuttles, Freedom and Independence are launched simultaneously and shortly dock at a Russian space station (crewed by Lev Andropov) to refuel. AJ encounters a problem stopping the pumps after the ships tanks are full and the station explodes. The crews and Lev Andropov escape. The two shuttles perform a high G-force slingshot procedure around the Moon to land on the backside of the asteroid. However, as they enter the trailing debris of the asteroid, the Independence is struck and crash lands on the asteroid. The Freedom manages to land on the surface but misses the target landing zone. They land on an area of hard iron which will be difficult to drill through. The Freedom team try to drill but suffer several setbacks and losses due to the unexpected conditions. It is revealed that if the deadline is missed, Colonel Sharpe would activate the nuclear device on the surface. However, a surface explosion would not be sufficient to divert the asteroid from hitting the Earth. Harry is able to convince Colonel Sharpe to help them attempt to finish the job. During this time, another meteorite wipes out much of Paris, France.

All seems lost when their drilling machine is blasted off the asteroid by a gas vent, but the Freedom crew learns that the other team managed to survive the crash thanks to Lev Andropov and have driven the second drilling machine to the drilling site. Harry puts AJ in charge of finishing the drilling and they successfully drill to the necessary depth. The team lowers the bomb into the hole, but find that they can not detonate remotely after a rock storm damages the bomb’s trigger, as well as killing one of the crew members. Truman tells the team that someone is going to have to stay behind to activate the bomb to destroy the asteroid. AJ is picked to detonate the bomb remotely after drawing straws, but Harry disables his air supply and takes his place. As the shuttle prepares to depart, Harry sends a final message to his daughter and gives his full support for her to marry AJ. Harry manages to activate the bomb moments before the critical deadline, and the asteroid halves successfully miss the Earth. The remaining crew of the Freedom return to Earth as heroes, AJ reuniting tearfully with Grace while the others are met by their loved ones. Grace and AJ soon marry, while Harry and their lost crew members are memorialized.

Single bachelors and lifelong best friends, John Beckwith and Jeremy Grey are business partners in divorce mediation in Washington D.C.. The friends frequently “crash” wedding parties to meet women, working from a set of rules taught to them by a past ‘crasher,’ Chazz. The duo always have cover stories for inquisitive guests and inevitably become the hit of every reception, to charm their way into bed with ladies at the wedding for one night only.

After a sequence of successful ‘crashes,’ Jeremy spots the wedding of the daughter of the Secretary of the Treasury William Cleary and his wife, Kathleen. After infiltrating the lavish event as brothers, John and Jeremy set their sights on two bridesmaids, also daughters of Secretary Cleary: Claire and Gloria Cleary. While Jeremy manages to make it on the beach with “stage-five clinger” and supposed virgin Gloria, John works on Claire. While talking afterwards, John is blocked by Claire’s hotheaded Ivy League graduate boyfriend Zach, whom as the film progresses, isn’t such a loyal boyfriend when he brags of his sexual conquests to his buddies behind Claire’s back. John convinces a resistant Jeremy to break the rules and accept an invitation to an extended weekend party at the Cleary family compound.

John meets their mentor Chazz to reaffirm Jeremy’s apparent stupidity in getting engaged. During the visit, he discovers that Chazz has moved onto “funeral crashing,” as he believes that grief is the best aphrodisiac. John joins Chazz on an outing, but is taken aback by the amount of love and sorrow shown by the widow of the deceased. He reconsiders his stance on love and marriage and rushes to Jeremy’s wedding. He joins them mid-ceremony as the best man, but disrupts it by attempting to speak to Claire while standing at the altar. After intense arguments and a mild scuffle, Claire finally reveals that she, too, has feelings for John. Zach is dumbfounded by the situation, and turns to Secretary Cleary for help. However, Secretary Cleary fully supports his daughter’s decision to reject Zach. Defeated and clearly angry, Zach begins demanding Claire to return to the alter before attacking John before Jeremy intervenes and knocks Zach to the ground with a solid punch. The film ends with Jeremy getting married to Gloria, John uniting with Claire, and the two couples driving away joking about crashing a wedding all together.

Night at the Museum

  • Producers: Shawn Levy, Chris Columbus, Stephen Sommers
  • Writers: Milan Trenc, Robert Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon
  • Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Family, Fantasy
  • Actors: Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Jake Cherry, Dick Van Dyke, Carla Gugino, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs, Ricky Gervais, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Patrick Gallagher, Rami Malek, Kim Raver, Pierfrancesco Favino, Charlie Murphy

Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) is a divorced father who is unable to keep a stable job, the bulk of them being failed business ventures. He is desperate to win the support of his son Nick (Jake Cherry), whom he fears is beginning to look up to his more successful future stepfather, Don (Paul Rudd), a bond trader on Wall Street. Larry therefore applies for a job at the American Museum of Natural History, where he is assigned as a night guard.

The three elder (soon to be retired) night guards, Cecil (Dick Van Dyke), Gus (Mickey Rooney), and Reginald (Bill Cobbs), give him a quick tour, advise him to leave some of the lights on, and warn him not to let anything “in . . . or out”, which Larry meets with humorous skepticism. They also leave some odd instructions for him.

Once night comes, Larry discovers that the museum exhibits come to life. Larry barely manages to survive through the night. First, he discovers a Tyrannosaurus rex drinking from a water fountain; Larry distracts it by throwing a bone it has ripped from its own skeleton. Then, despite a narrow escape in the wildlife exhibits, Larry manages to lock up the lions. Finally, he double-checks his belt, only to discover that a capuchin monkey named Dexter has in fact stolen his keys. When Dexter destroys the old guards’ instruction manual, Larry is forced into humiliating himself.

The next day, Dr. McPhee fires Larry despite his effort to clean up the museum; but when the reports issued by the news media begin increasing the Museum’s popularity, he readmits Larry. Some time later, Larry appears in Nick’s classroom during Career Day. Later that night, Larry returns with Nick and all the exhibits celebrate. Cecil, Gus, and Reginald eventually become janitors at the Museum; a stereotypical punishment in comedy films for defeated antagonists (and still allows them to be around the energies of the tablet).

Soon after their wedding, John and Jenny Grogan escape the brutal Michigan winters and relocate to a cottage in southern Florida, where they are hired as reporters for competing newspapers. At The Palm Beach Post, Jenny immediately receives prominent front-page assignments, while at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, John finds himself writing obituaries and two-paragraph articles about mundane news like a fire at the local garbage dump.

When John senses Jenny is contemplating motherhood, his friend and co-worker Sebastian Tunney suggests the couple adopt a dog to see if they’re ready to raise a family. From a litter of newborn yellow labrador retrievers they select Marley (named after reggae singer Bob Marley), who immediately proves to be incorrigible. They bring him to Ms. Kornblut, who firmly believes any dog can be trained, but when Marley refuses to obey commands, she expels him from her class.

Editor Arnie Klein offers John a twice-weekly column in which he can discuss the fun and foibles of everyday living. At first stumped for material, John realizes the misadventures of Marley might be the perfect topic for his first piece. Arnie agrees, and John settles into his new position.

Marley continues to wreak havoc on the household, providing John with a wealth of material for his column, which becomes a hit with readers and helps increase the newspaper’s circulation. Jenny becomes pregnant, but loses the baby early in her first trimester. She and John travel to Ireland for a belated honeymoon, leaving the rambunctious dog in the care of a young woman who finds him impossible to control, especially during the frequent thunderstorms that plague the area. Soon after returning from their vacation, Jenny discovers she is pregnant again, and this time she delivers a healthy boy, Patrick. When she has a second son, Connor, she opts to give up her job and become a stay-at-home mom, and the couple decides to move to a larger house in the safer neighborhood of Boca Raton, where Marley delights in swimming in the backyard pool.

John celebrates his 40th birthday. Increasingly disenchanted with his job, he decides to accept a position as a reporter with The Philadelphia Inquirer with Jenny’s blessing, and the family moves to a farm in rural Pennsylvania. Life is idyllic until the aging Marley begins to show signs of slowing down. When it becomes clear surgery will not help his debilitating condition, the dog is euthanised and buried.
