An old man looks at the ocean from a New Jersey boardwalk outside a skee ball arcade. He is beaten into a coma by three hockey stick-wielding teenagers, the Stygian Triplets.

Two fallen angels — Bartleby (Ben Affleck), a watcher, and Loki (Matt Damon), formerly the Angel of Death — were banished from Heaven after Bartleby convinced Loki to quit his position and find one that doesn’t involve mass slaughter. This culminates in Loki giving God the finger, and both angels being exiled to Wisconsin and permanently banned from Heaven. The two see their potential salvation when a church in Red Bank, New Jersey, celebrates its centennial anniversary with a plenary indulgence. By passing through the doors of the church, they can have their sins forgiven and upon death regain access to Heaven. They don’t realize by doing this they will overrule the word of God. Since the basis of existence is that God is infallible, proving God wrong would destroy existence.

Metatron (Alan Rickman), the seraph who acts as the Voice of God, appears to abortion clinic worker Bethany Sloane (Linda Fiorentino) and gives her the task of preventing Bartleby and Loki’s return. Bethany is initially against the mission as she has lost her faith in God due to her infertility and subsequent divorce. Bethany is attacked by the Stygian Triplets and saved by Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith), two prophets whom Metatron said would appear. She is also aided by Rufus (Chris Rock), the thirteenth apostle, left out of the Bible because he is black, and Serendipity (Salma Hayek), a Muse with writer’s block turned stripper. Bethany learns that she is the Last Scion, the last descendant of Mary and Joseph, and the last relative of Jesus Christ.

Bethany removes the life support from God’s human body, allowing Him/Her to escape — and inadvertently killing Bethany. God (Alanis Morissette) manifests at the church before Bartleby, who apologizes for his acts. God kills Bartleby with the power of Her voice. Silent Bob shows up with Bethany’s bloodstained corpse. God resurrects Bethany and conceives an heir inside her. The heavenly beings return to Heaven through the church doors.

Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia) rounds up the eleven members of Danny Ocean’s (George Clooney) gang, and threatens them in order to force them to pay back the $160 million that they stole from his Vegas casino from their previous heist, along with $38 million in interest, within two weeks. Collectively, the group is short by nearly half, and are forced to stage another heist to collect the funds. The group opts for a European target as they are too well recognized in the United States. For their first target, recommended by an informant named Matsui (Robbie Coltrane) the team goes after the world’s oldest stock certificate issued by the Dutch East India Company in 1602. Kept in a private home in Amsterdam, the value would not be enough to settle the debt, but sufficient to extend their deadline. While the group is able to breach the security of the house, including physically lifting the house to gain the correct line of sight to deactivate the security codes, they find they have been beaten by another master thief, François Toulour, also known as “The Night Fox” (Vincent Cassel). Toulour invites Danny to his home, and reveals that it was he that tipped off Terry on Danny’s casino heist, due to being upset that his mentor Gaspar LeMarc (Albert Finney) has believed Danny was the world’s best thief. Toulour challenges Danny to see who could first steal the Coronation Egg within the week, offering to pay off Terry’s debt if Danny should win.

LeMarc reveals in a meeting with Danny and Rusty that he had been playing a long con. LeMarc wanted to humiliate Toulour by taunting him into the bet with Danny, as well as to regain possession of the Egg that he had stolen himself long ago, only relinquishing it due to his wife’s nagging. More importantly, LeMarc wanted to be reunited with his daughter, revealed to be Lahiri, which could only be done after Danny’s crew was extradited. With Rusty’s help, Lahiri is flown in to an emotional meeting with her father. The group pays the money back to Terry, though under watch by Toulour, and then enjoy a private poker session, with Lahiri rejoining with Rusty.

Reuben Tishkoff (Elliott Gould) and Las Vegas’ most hated businessman, Willy Bank (Al Pacino), are building a new hotel and casino in Las Vegas, a deal Danny Ocean (George Clooney) initially warns Reuben to avoid. After having secured crucial deals for Bank, Reuben is strong armed into signing over his share of the new establishment to Bank, who leaves him with only a $10,000 poker chip. Looking at the chip, Reuben notices that Bank has changed the name of the hotel from “The Midas” to his own name, “The Bank”. Reuben suffers a heart attack from the stress related to this financial loss. The remainder of Ocean’s Eleven—Danny Ocean (George Clooney), Rusty Ryan (Brad Pitt), Linus Caldwell (Matt Damon), Basher Tarr (Don Cheadle), Frank Catton (Bernie Mac), Virgil Malloy (Casey Affleck), Turk Malloy (Scott Caan), “The Amazing” Yen (Shaobo Qin), Saul Bloom (Carl Reiner), and Livingston Dell (Eddie Jemison)— are gathered around Reuben. They decide to offer Bank a “Billy Martin” (presumably a “do-over”, a reference to Martin’s repeated hirings/firings/rehirings with the New York Yankees) or “face the consequences” of his actions. Not only does he turns down the offer, he happily says to Danny that Reuben has made the right choice to “roll over and die”. Thus, the team sets out to avenge the injustice committed against Reuben by making sure Bank’s casino not only loses, but loses big. Tess Ocean and Isabel Lahiri are notably absent from this plot—left behind with Danny’s simple explanation that “it’s not their fight”.

Days later, in the McCarran International Airport, Danny, Rusty, and Linus watch as Benedict gives an interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show, announcing that he donated the money because he was touched by the kids. The three go their separate ways. Linus, the first to leave, has finally gotten a “part” in his father’s work. Danny is the second to leave. After they have left, Rusty decides to hit the slots one last time. He starts to put some coins in the machine, but decides to give up his seat to the beleaguered hotel reviewer who is also at the airport. It turns out Rusty used the hacking coin sequence to rig the machine and the hotel reviewer wins $11 million; Rusty walks off smiling while a crowd gathers (this is significant also because Saul and Turk had earlier discussed how he would get the “Susan B. Anthony” at the airport, with Saul claiming he would undergo the reviewer’s plight if he were paid 11 million dollars).

During a stormy night, a group of Italian fishermen find a man floating in the Mediterranean off Marseille, with two gunshot wounds in his back and a device with the number of a Swiss safe deposit box embedded in his hip. Suffering from retrograde amnesia, he finds he is versed in several European languages and can perform uncommon tasks such as sea navigation and tying exotic knots in the ship’s ropes, but he cannot remember anything about himself including his name or why he was found in the ocean. When the ship docks, he sets off for Zürich to investigate the safe deposit box.

At CIA headquarters in Langley, Deputy Director Ward Abbot finds out about a failed assassination attempt on deposed African dictator Nykwana Wombosi.

Meanwhile in Zürich, the amnesiac is approached by two police officers who see him sleeping on a park bench. He, at first confused because the police speak in German, suddenly responds in German saying that he lost his identification papers. The officers attempt to arrest him, but he renders them both unconscious and disables their pistols in a matter of seconds; after doing this he surveys the scene in front of him with shock, realising that, even though he has amnesia, he is proficient at advanced hand to hand combat and at using firearms. He flees the park, discarding his distinctive red jacket so as not to be recognized.

Abbott, having decided that Treadstone should be closed down for good, has the last operative, Manheim, murder Conklin. Abbott then goes before an oversight committee and glibly explains Treadstone away as an ineffective assassin-training program, then immediately shifts the focus of the hearing to an idea for a new project codenamed “Blackbriar”. Sometime later, Jason finds Marie renting out scooters to tourists, and the two reunite.

Two years after the events in The Bourne Identity, Bourne and his girlfriend, Marie Kreutz, are living in Goa, India. Bourne is beginning to recover some of his memories, and he is troubled by disjointed flashbacks of an assassination he carried out in a Berlin hotel. Meanwhile, in Berlin, a CIA officer under Deputy Director Pamela Landy is trading $3 million for the “Neski Files”, documents about the theft of $20 million from the CIA seven years earlier. During the exchange, a Russian assassin named Kirill arrives to intercept the selling. He plants two bombs in the basement electrical circuit: one on the main and the other on a subline with Jason Bourne’s fingerprint. The bomb on the main line kills the power while Kirill kills the agent and the source, and steals the files and money, which he gives to Russian oil magnate Yuri Gretkov. Kirill then travels to Goa to kill Bourne, but Bourne flees with Marie. As Bourne and Marie are driving away, Kirill fires a sniper rifle at the car that kills Marie, and the car veers off the bridge they are on into a river. Kirill leaves, believing that he killed Bourne. Bourne manages to swim away undetected, leaving Marie dead in the river (after unsuccessful mouth-to-mouth resuscitation). He then burns all of Marie’s passports and pictures except for one picture showing both of them in an embrace. He also clears the house they lived in, taking all of the notes that Bourne used to dictate his dreams. Bourne travels to Italy to learn why he is again being targeted.

Out of respect for Marie’s belief in non-violence, Bourne spares Abbott’s life. After Zorn’s body is discovered, Landy confronts Abbott, who commits suicide. Landy later receives the tape Bourne recorded which implicates Abbott in the conspiracy. Bourne travels to Moscow, where he is shot and wounded by Kirill. After an extended car chase, Bourne forces Kirill’s car to crash into a concrete divider in a tunnel. Kirill is shown to be extensively injured and incapacitated, and presumably dies. (This is later confirmed in the next film, where Marie’s brother asks if Bourne killed him.) Gretkov is arrested by Russian police after Landy provides them with the evidence she got from Bourne. Bourne goes to the apartment of Vladimir Neski’s daughter so she won’t have to live thinking her mother killed her father. He admits that he killed them both on a mission gone wrong, and apologizes. The final scene (which actually takes place during the events of the next film “The Bourne Ultimatum” in which it is shown) jumps to New York City, where Bourne contacts Landy to ask why the CIA is still looking for him. After Landy thanks Bourne for supplying the tape, which the CIA has used to settle matters concerning his frame-up, she tells Bourne his real name (David Webb), birth date (April 15, 1971) and place of birth (Nixon, MO). Bourne declines Landy’s offer to come back to the CIA offices in person, and he fades into a crowded street scene.

Shortly after being paroled from prison in New Jersey, Danny Ocean (George Clooney) breaks parole to visit Los Angeles, meeting up with Rusty (Brad Pitt), a former partner in his criminal schemes, to inform him that he has a new scheme in mind. The two head to Las Vegas to approach wealthy former casino owner and friend Reuben Tishkoff (Elliott Gould), with a plan to rob the vaults of the Bellagio, The Mirage and the MGM Grand casinos. At first Reuben is very reluctant, knowing himself how much security there is in every casino, but Reuben, seeing this as a way to get back at his rival, Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia), owner of the 3 casinos , finances the option and suggests the plan be executed on the night of the highly-anticipated Lennox Lewis/Wladimir Klitschko boxing match. By Nevada Gaming Commission rules, the casinos must maintain adequate funds in their vaults to cover all bets, and during the busy casino night coinciding with the match, more than $150 million is expected to be stored in the Bellagio vault. Danny and Rusty begin to recruit former colleagues and other criminal masterminds into their group. The team plans and carries out a series of reconnaissance missions at the Bellagio to learn as much as possible about the security, the lie of the land and the routines and behaviours of the casino staff. At the same time, they set up a re-creation of the Bellagio vault, in which to practice evasion of the vault’s formidable security systems. During this planning phase, the team discovers that Danny’s ex-wife, Tess Ocean (Julia Roberts), is currently Terry’s lover, and Rusty urges Danny to drop the plan saying that “Tess does not split eleven ways”, aware that Tess may warn Terry that something is afoot if she sees Danny, but Danny figures this into the plan.

Terry quickly realises that the televised images of the vault he is looking at are faked, and that the team had created the images inside a replication of the vault at some earlier time. Specifically, he notices that the video feed did not show the new Bellagio logo that was installed only a few days earlier. His men following the van find that it is being driven remotely, and is only filled with “fliers for hookers”. Terry comes to the realization that Danny’s men must have posed as the S.W.A.T. team and faked the fighting while they cleared out the vault, taking all of the money with them as they left unchecked. Terry returns to the room where he left Danny, finding that Danny is still there, leaving Terry no way to connect him to the theft. Danny offers to assist Terry in finding the money on condition that he give up Tess, to which Terry agrees. However, the team recorded this conversation and shows it to Tess. Angry at being used by Terry, she leaves him and returns to Danny. Danny is still arrested for violating parole and spends some months in prison, after Terry arranges for the police to be tipped off about Danny’s parole violation. When Danny is released, he is met by Rusty and Tess, and the three drive off, closely followed by Terry’s bodyguards.

Though Will Hunting (Matt Damon) has a genius-level intellect, eidetic memory and a profound gift for mathematics, he works as a janitor at MIT and lives alone in a sparsely-furnished house in a rundown South Boston neighborhood. An abused foster child, he subconsciously blames himself for his unhappy upbringing and turns this self-loathing into a form of self-sabotage in both his professional and emotional lives.

In the first week of class, Will solves a difficult graduate-level problem taken from algebraic graph theory that Professor Gerald Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgård), a Fields Medalist and combinatorialist, leaves on a chalkboard as a challenge posed to his students, hoping someone might find the solution by the end of the semester. When it is solved quickly and anonymously, Lambeau posts a much more difficult problem—one that took him and his colleagues two years to prove. When Lambeau chances upon a mere janitor writing on the board, Lambeau chases him away. However, when Lambeau returns to the board, he is astounded to find the correct answer there. He then sets out to track Will down.

Meanwhile, Will beats a bully named Carmine Scarpaglia half to death, as he harassed Will 15 years ago in kindergarten, and he now faces imprisonment after attacking a police officer who was responding to the attack. Realizing Will has enormous potential, Lambeau goes to Will’s trial and intervenes on his behalf, offering him a choice: either go to jail, or be released under Lambeau’s personal supervision to study mathematics and see a therapist. Will chooses the latter, even though he does not believe he needs therapy.

When his buddies present him with a rebuilt Chevrolet Nova for his 21st birthday, he decides to go after Skylar, setting aside his lucrative corporate and government job offers. Will leaves a brief note for Sean, using one of Sean’s own quips, “I had to go see about a girl.” Chuckie discovers that Will has finally gone. Will is then shown starting for California for a new beginning with Skylar.

The Bourne Ultimatum

  • Genres: Action, Adventure, Mystery, Thriller

The movie begins before the end of the events in The Bourne Supremacy, as Bourne, wounded by a gunshot from the Russian assassin Kirill, is still evading the Moscow police. Cornered by two officers while breaking into a medical clinic to treat his wounds, Bourne overpowers the officers, knocking one out, while holding the second at gunpoint. He leaves them alive as he escapes, saying, My argument is not with you.

Six weeks later, Simon Ross, a security correspondent for The Guardian, meets with someone in Turin, to discuss Treadstone. Bourne goes to Paris to tell Marie’s brother, Martin, of her death, then heads to London. Bourne then reads an article in The Guardian by Ross about Bourne, Treadstone, and “Operation Blackbriar.” He then arranges to meet Ross in London at the south entrance of Waterloo Station. Ross, however, is under surveillance because his use of the word “Blackbriar” in a phone call to his editor was tracked by ECHELON, alerting the CIA. CIA section chief Noah Vosen alerts his staff at the Anti-Terrorism Deep Cover in New York to find out any information on Ross, believing that Operation Blackbriar has been compromised.

After receiving a call from Bourne, Ross takes a taxi to Waterloo Station. At the station, Bourne sees CIA officers following Ross and places a prepaid mobile phone on him; through it, Bourne instructs him on how to dodge the station’s surveillance. However, Vosen orders an assassin, Paz, to kill Ross and his source. Vosen’s team identifies Bourne on a security camera and recognizes him as the original Treadstone assassin, and assumes he is Ross’s source. While Paz gets into position with a sniper rifle, Bourne tells Ross to remain hidden, but Ross panics and steps out into the open, allowing Paz to deliver a clear kill shot. In the chaos, Bourne grabs Ross’s notes, revealing his source as Neil Daniels, the Madrid CIA station chief.

Images of Bourne’s unmoving body floating in the river are interspersed with images of Nicky watching a news report, sometime later, noting the exposure of Blackbriar, the arrests of Hirsch and Vosen, that Ezra Kramer is the subject of a United States Senate hearing regarding his conduct, and that David Webb, alias Jason Bourne, was shot and fell into the East River but his body has not been recovered, even after a three-day search, at which point Nicky smiles. In the final moments of the film Bourne is shown swimming away in the East River.
