In London, a cat named Prince (voice of Tim Curry) is living a luxurious life and is king of his castle. On the other side of the world, Garfield is living in his owner Jon’s house and is thinking that he’s the king of the home. That night, it is revealed that Jon is propsing to marry his girlfriend, Liz (Jennifer Love Hewitt). Garfield (voice of Bill Murray) finds a turkey at the dinner table and eats completely, while Jon is about to propose but was unable to find the ring (because Garfield took it). Liz tells Jon that she’s been asked to represent at London and is flying tonight. After Liz leaves, Jon is fully sad that he couldn’t make his proposal to Liz and she’s flying to London. Then suddenly, Jon then decides to go to London.
The next day, Garfield and Odie are sent to a vet so Jon can go to London, but they escape into Jon’s bag and head to London (without Jon knowing). Meanwhile, Prince has just been named the new owner of the castle, while a man named Lord Dugous (Billy Connolly) thought he was the rightful owner. So to hopefully have himself named as the owner, he puts Prince in a basket and throws him into the river which leads to London. Jon arrives at his apartment and then Liz comes in, Jon was just about to propose when Garfield and Odie come out of the bag.
The film ends when the animals come and they, Garfield and Prince party.
